My Night In Bonmawaddi (Mindone, Magway, Myanmar)
Being a youth and being a person is rather fond of sneaking out with friends under the city neonlights, going to the cinema once the film poster is unveiled by the usher, enjoying super-fast instant food and soft beverages in designer cans and bottles. I also enjoy going shopping – mostly 'window-shopping' - for fancy garments at the fashion houses mushrooming all over the places, though I'm a flashy-dresser who used to wear baggy vivid off-the-racknow I wear skinny jeans tight around ankles. I used to dip myself in under the unkempt bedsheets and blanket messing all together with my longyi and waking slowly and ignoring the alarm clock until the clock's hands hit 8:00 in the morning. I usual eat breakfast at my dinning room table – which is my favourite and I never tired eating 'Kho Taung noodles' and adding some turmeric oil with fish broth with green chilli. At the start of everyday, I choose whether knocking around with old sports or just staying in, texting and surfing on social apps. This is how I live my life so far. I put my past behind me as I am living in this moment so.. what my motive was in in writing this story is I'd to share how I nurture myself to reach milestones here where I am living now.
The beige land was bathing under the downpour from the blue ocean sky was on that day I was on the bus to Mindon. I got my mate who is going to be my opposite number, Min, yawning on the other bench in this fishy-smelled coach but I could see his overwhelming excitement as we are heading to this miserable place we’ve never been before, frankly never heard its name before, and staying for the extent of time we couldn’t even guess how long it would be. Gazing through this sparkling rain drops and trying to picture the environs of Mindon with the vain thoughts in the head running wasn’t until all of my daydreaming vanished instantly by the road sing mentioned “ a mile to MIndon”. Passing around fifteen minutes over bumpy tar road then we peter at the gate of “Forest township office, Mindon township, Thayet District, Magway Division”. The closed teak door of the office is the very first elegant lady welcoming us as this is the place where we belong to be. We were accommodated in the spacious room with a heap of furniture, three old telephones, four lighting bulbs with one gone broken down, sheltered around by green boards on which thousands of bolded words are written as we are living in Our Office!!!. This is how I start my Mindon nights.
The following morning, we two wandered to the so-called town, local dwellers still classify this town as a size village, as we need to manage our staying Okay. We surprisingly found out that there are totally three restaurants- one Burmese cuisine restaurant, one hindi restaurant and a pub ( let’s count it as a restaurant), one hospital – I am okay with that as I am way healthy to forget when my last fever is except I got my hives daily, proliferating mobile shop in recent days occupied on both sides of one and only main road where I could buy kind of smart phone I can’t even pronounced their brands. It takes us a couple of minute for visiting all over the town on our own foots -which is good we could ask for help to all the people in this whole town in case we need it.
